Welcome to the official website of the Edina Rugby Football Team. Our club is entering its 14th year and is recognized as one of the first high school clubs in the state of Minnesota. In just that short period of time we have already built a tradition of success and camaraderie, with many faithful parent and player alumni.
Rugby is the second largest participation sport in the world behind soccer with 3 million participants worldwide, yet a minor sport in the USA with just over 50,000 participants. Rugby is known worldwide as a ruffian’s sport played by gentlemen. To that end, we stress teamwork, sportsmanship, respect for opponents and officials, responsibility and fun.
Some facts about Edina Rugby:
Ours is the only club in Minnesota to offer the opportunity to letter and follow all Edina Athletic Department guidelines. This is an optional choice for players.
Consistently strong membership with 50+ players between grades 8-12
Four (4) players in club history have represented the USA on the national Eagles U19 team
2006 player exchange with the Old Laurentians Rugby Club, Rugby, England
2010 England Rugby Tour. 26 rugby players went to Rugby England to play the game where it all started
2011 Las Vegas Tour. 22 players participated in the USA Sevens tournament.
