Welcome to the home of the Edina Rugby Football Club

2011 Season Overview:

2011 marks the 14th season for the Edina Hornets Boys Rugby Football Club (EHRFC). Here are a few fun facts about the club since inception 

  • One of the first high school rugby clubs in the state.

  • A tradition of success, camaraderie and faithful alumni.

  • Consistently strong membership with 50+ players between grades 9-12.

  • Varsity state titles in 1998 and 1999. Runner-up in 2000. Semi-finalists in 2001 and 2007. Quarter-finalist in 2005 and 2006,State Champions 2008 and  3rd place in 2009.

  • Inaugural Minnesota Under-17 state title in 2006. Quarter-finalist in 2007, 2nd place in 2008, and State Champions in 2009.

  • Four players in club history have represented the United States on the Junior Eagles team (Recent graduates -David Hogan 00, Connor Mannix 05, Andrew Mase 06 & Tim Moxness 06).

  • 2006 player exchange with the Old Laurentians Rugby Club, Rugby England.

  • February 2010 England Tour.  Played against the top ranked team in Alyesbury and Rugby England.

    February 2011 Las Vegas Tour.  22 players went to play in the Las Vegas Invitational.

    The U19 ended the 2011 in 2nd place in state.  The U19 was ranked 18th in the nation by Rugby magazine.  The U17 team ended the season in 3rd place in state.

    In February 2012, 29 rugby players will return to England to play top ranked boys teams.



A couple of things to note

  • Players need to bring mouth guards to all sessions

  • Players should bring what they will be wearing for cleated shoes to training if they have not ordered rugby boots through MA Apparel. We want to ensure shoes will be accepted by referees. .
